UPSC CDS 1 Exam Registrations Closed, Key Details Revealed

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) closed the registration window for the Combined Defence Services (CDS 1) exam on January 9. Candidates could apply through the official UPSC website at from December 20, 2024, until the closing date, January 9.


Exam Schedule and Centers

As per the official schedule, the CDS 1 exam 2024 is set to take place on April 21 across 70 cities nationwide. Additionally, CDS II is scheduled for September 1, 2024, with its notification expected on May 15.

UPSC CDS 1 Exam Registrations Eligibility Criteria

Candidates applying for the UPSC CDS exam need to meet specific eligibility criteria:

Educational Qualification: Graduates from a recognized university are eligible. Candidates aspiring to join the Navy need a bachelor’s degree in engineering. For the Air Force Academy, Physics and Chemistry in Class 12 are required alongside a Bachelor’s degree.

Age Limit: Applicants aiming for the Air Force and Navy must be aged between 19 to 23 years. For the Officers Training Academy, the age range is between 19 and 24 years.

Exam Structure and Phases

The UPSC CDS exam consists of a written test and an interview round. The written exam is 2 hours long, carrying 100 marks. It includes three papers: English language, general knowledge, and elementary mathematics. These papers cater to various entries such as IMA, INA, AFA, and OTA.

Recruitment Purpose and Exam Frequency

The UPSC conducts CDS and NDA exams biannually to recruit Commissioned Officers for the Navy, Indian Army, and Air Force. The CDS II and NDA NA II exams are provisionally scheduled for September 1, 2024, with the notification expected on May 15, 2024.
