The National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme (NMMSS scholarship) for 2023–2024 now accepts applications till December 31, 2023. Before the deadline, interested and qualified individuals may register for the NMMSS scholarship by going to the National Scholarship Portal’s official website.
This grant is available to deserving children from economically disadvantaged groups so they don’t have to drop out of eighth grade. The purpose of the scholarship programme is to support secondary school students’ studies. The annual scholarship amount given to students is ₹ 12,000.00.
Students are eligible to apply for the scholarships if their parents’ combined annual income does not exceed ₹ 3,50,000. Candidates must have at least 55% of the possible points or an equivalent grade in the class 7 examination for appearing in the selection test for award or scholarship.
As part of the central sector programme, one lakh new scholarships are given out annually to carefully chosen students in class 9, with the option for continuation or renewal for students enrolled in State Government, Government-aided, and local body schools in classes 10 through 12.
The NMMSS scholarship money is sent electronically via the Public Financial Management System (PFMS) in accordance with DBT method, straight into the bank accounts of the chosen students.
